The Class of 2025 walked across the stage at the John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center, ready to bring their education to life. On May 9, graduates from Campbell University’s College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences —223 in total — stepped into a future shaped by purpose, perseverance, and passion.

The spring commencement ceremony was a culmination of years of academic dedication, clinical experiences, and personal growth. Proud families, faculty, and friends filled the arena with cheers and tears, while others tuned in via livestream to witness the momentous occasion.

A CPHS Graduate Returns to Inspire

Delivering this year’s commencement address was Dr. Paul DiMondi, a 2011 Doctor of Pharmacy graduate of CPHS whose professional journey has taken him from the classrooms of Campbell to the forefront of scientific innovation in the pharmaceutical industry.

Now the Global Director of Scientific Communications and Medical Education at ViiV Healthcare, Dr. DiMondi challenged graduates to embrace their future with curiosity and courage.

“I want to leave you with three simple but powerful ideas that I believe can help you reflect as you make this transition in life: First, lead with connection in a digital world. Second, know your core — and guard it fiercely. And finally, communicate like lives depend on it — because they do,“ he said. “Now it’s time to go — embrace your community. Lead in your field. And above all, never forget, your degree is just the beginning. Your impact is what comes next.“

His message echoed the heart of the CPHS mission: equipping students not only with clinical expertise but also with the compassion and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of healthcare.

A Class Defined by Excellence and Heart

This year’s class included graduates from nine academic programs:
    • Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences (6), Clinical Research (6), General Science (1), and Nursing (49)
    • Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences (8), Clinical Research (11), and Public Health (22)
    • Master of Physician Assistant Practice (54)
    • Doctor of Pharmacy (66)

Throughout their time at CPHS, these students have distinguished themselves not only by academic achievement but by the care, leadership, and service they brought to their communities—values deeply rooted in the College’s mission.

Dean of CPHS, Dr. Jeff Mercer, who presided over the ceremony, expressed his pride in the Class of 2025, “This class embodies the very best of Campbell—grit, compassion, and a commitment to making a difference. I’m excited to watch them step into their professions with confidence and purpose. They are ready to lead, to serve, and to make healthcare better for everyone.”

    End of an Era

As he prepares to retire in the coming weeks, Campbell University President Dr. J. Bradley Creed conferred degrees on the graduating class for the final time—adding a layer of meaning to an already momentous occasion. With warmth and pride, Dr. Creed acknowledged the achievements of the graduates and celebrated their resilience and readiness to lead. His presence at the podium marked the end of an era, as he sent off the Class of 2025 with the same steadfast commitment to student success that has defined his presidency.
