The ongoing military exchanges between India and Pakistan saw a major uptick on Friday (May 9, 2025) night and Saturday (May 10, 2025) morning. Indian armed forces carried out precision attacks on military targets which included technical infrastructure, command and control centres, radar sites and weapon storage areas as also struck six air bases after Pakistan used Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (UCAV), drones, long-range weapons, loitering munitions and fighter aircraft to target civilian areas and military infrastructure along the Western border.

In addition, Pakistani military has been observed to be moving their troops into forward areas, indicating offensive intent to further escalate the situation, the Government said.

Operation Sindoor updates: May 10, 2025

“Along the international border and the Line of Control (LoC), air intrusions and several harassment attacks were also attempted from Srinagar till Naliya at more than 26 locations. Indian Armed Forces successfully neutralised these threats and majority of the vectors. However, limited damage was sustained to equipment and personnel at Indian Air Force (IAF) stations at Udhampur, Pathankot, Adampur and Bhuj,” Wg. Cdr. Vyomika Singh said briefing the media around 10:30AM on Saturday. “There were also several high-speed missile attacks noticed subsequently after 0140 hours in the night at several air bases in Punjab.”

Indian armed forces reiterate their commitment to “non-escalation”, provided it is “reciprocated” by the Pakistan military, the officer reiterated.

In a swift and calibrated response, Indian armed forces carried out precision attacks “only on identified” military targets – technical infrastructure, command and control centres, radar sites and weapon storage areas, according to Wg Cdr Singh. “Pakistan military targets at Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur and Chunian were engaged using air-launched precision weapons from our fighter aircraft. Radar sites at Pasrur and Sialkot aviation base were also targeted using precision munitions. While carrying out these responses, India ensured minimum collateral damage.”

In Islamabad, in a very early morning press conference, Pakistan Military’s Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that India has carried out missile strikes on three Pakistan Air Force (PAF) bases at Nur Khan in Rawalpindi, Murid (Chakwal) and Rafiqui.

Detailing further, Wg. Cdr. Singh said that in a “deplorable cowardly” act, targeting of civilian infrastructure also had taken place where Pakistan attacked the medicare centre and school premises at the air bases of Srinagar, Awantipora and Udhampur, “yet again” displaying “irresponsible” targeting of our civilian infrastructure.

The Government also “unequivocally” rejected “false narratives” being spread by Pakistan. A series of posts and videos have been circulating through the night and in the day, of several Indian jets show down and military bases hit. Pakistan has also attempted to execute a continued “malicious misinformation campaign” with claims of destruction of Indian S-400 system at Adampur, destruction of airfields at Suratgarh and Sirsa, BrahMos base at Nagrota, RT gun positions at Dehrangyari and Chandigarh Forward Ammunition Depot; with heavy damages to other military stations being propagated on social media, Wg Cdr Singh observed.

All through the night and much later in the day, there drones and missile strikes were reported from several locations which were promptly neutralised by air defence systems. This also included the launch of small unarmed drones which officials had stated were to “test air defences and gather intelligence.” For instance, tube launched drones were reported to have been launched from Pakistan posts and terror launch pads towards Jammu which were destroyed by the Army.

Pakistan military also resorted to air intrusions using drones and firing of heavy calibre weapons along the LoC and has attempted multiple air intrusions using drones and conducted shelling using heavy-calibre Artillery guns, targeting civilian infrastructure and killing some civilians, it was stated. Heavy exchange of artillery mortars and small-arm fire in Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri and Akhnoor sectors continued. Indian Army has responded “effectively and proportionately”, causing “extensive damage” to Pakistan Army, Col Sofiya Qureshi said reading the statement in Hindi.

In this regard, Wg Cdr Singh said that Pakistan military has been observed to be moving their troops into forward areas adding, “Indian armed forces remain in a high state of operational readiness. All hostile actions have been effectively countered and responded appropriately.”

At the end of the briefing, some images of Airforce bases in the Punjab and Rajasthan along with time and date stamps were shown and Wg Cdr Singh said it is mighty clear that they were “debunking” the Pakistani claims causing destruction at Indian air bases. “You can also see the normalcy at these Airforce stations,” she added.

Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, DG ISPR claimed that India fired air to ground missiles and that all PAF assets remain safe, as per local media reports. Videos on social media supposedly of Nur Khan showed fire at several locations on the base. The base houses transport aircraft, midair refuellers and Saab Erieye airborne early warning aircraft. Pakistan’s information minister Attaullah Tarar said in a post on social media ‘X’ that the military operation was named ‘Operation Bunyanun Marsoos’ taken from the Koran which means a firm, united structure.
