A new Virtua Fighter Direct was originally announced for May 11 at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. ET. However, looking at the stream itself on the day of, it would appear that the Virtua Fighter Direct will now be starting at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET instead.
With this event happening so soon after Evo Japan 2025, it would appear that Sega could have some interesting announcements lined up that likely involve that Virtua Fighter project that was announced during The Game Awards 2024.
As of right now, the only characters revealed for the new Virtua Fighter is Akira, a newcomer known only as Stella and Wolf Hawkfield who was announced just earlier this morning).
Notably, Stella is dressed just like Sarah Bryant, suggesting that there could be a connection between the two. As such, many fans have speculated that Stella is Sarah’s daughter, but this has yet to be confirmed.
During that first trailer, we got an extremely brief peek at gameplay that most featured Akira dealing damage against Stella. Unfortunately, this gameplay segment barely lasted for about 10 seconds.
A little while later, Sega also released a Virtua Fighter Tech Demo that provided us with a rather unique look at the game. Of course, it’s very important to understand that, within this Akira vs. Akira mirror match, the choreography featured during the tech demo won’t be part of the gameplay. Indeed, this video is absolutely not meant to be reflective of the upcoming Virtua Fighter’s gameplay.
Within this Direct, we may also receive a few updates regarding Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. Finally, a few updates regarding the Virtua Fighter Open Championship may also appear during the presentation.
