Thanks to Uber Green, passengers can now travel in a more environmentally conscious way, the company says.
This service also represents a major advancement in urban accessibility: electric vehicles operating on the Uber platform are now permitted to enter Margaret Island, one of the city’s most popular recreational areas, where car traffic is otherwise strictly limited. The service is exclusively available with hybrid and fully electric vehicles.
“Budapest, like many other major European cities, faces serious air pollution challenges that threaten public health and quality of life. If decisive action is not taken to implement cleaner transport solutions, the city could suffer not only environmental damage but also significant financial sanctions under EU regulations. With the launch of Uber Green, our goal is to make green mobility accessible to more people and ensure a cleaner, healthier future for Budapest,” said Eszter Kardos, Uber’s Hungary country manager.
The other new service, Uber Comfort, pairs riders with highly rated, seasoned drivers operating vehicles that are less than five years old for standard models or less than seven years for premium models. Every Uber Comfort vehicle offers extra, more spacious legroom as well.
Passengers can also personalize their preferences before the ride in the app: they can set their preferred temperature and choose between a quiet or chatty ride, resulting in a truly tailored experience.
In Budapest—where the taxi market is regulated with fixed fares—riders can enjoy these higher-quality services for the same price as a standard Uber Taxi trip, the company adds.
“I’m confident that Uber Comfort will also be motivating for Budapest passengers, as from now on, for the price of a standard trip, they can ride in a vehicle with more legroom and added comfort, all with a top-rated driver. By allowing riders to set personal preferences like desired temperature and conversation level in the Uber app, taking a taxi becomes the most personalized experience possible,” said Ádám Reich, CEO of F Mobilitás Kft., Uber’s local partner in Hungary.
A New Chapter for Urban Mobility in Budapest
“We are very pleased to announce that Uber Green and Uber Comfort are now available in Budapest. These new services reflect Uber’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our users—offering greener alternatives and more comfortable, personalized travel experiences,” said Eszter Kardos.
“With this launch, we further strengthen our commitment to promoting sustainable mobility throughout Central and Eastern Europe,” she added.
