FAIRMONT– LC FIT, a local fitness business owned by Logyn Cone, recently celebrated its 4th anniversary with a gathering of more than 100 clients. Cone strives to offer a place where people can comfortably and confidently work out together.
Prior to Covid hitting, Cone worked a full-time corporate job, however she had a passion for sports and fitness so when an opportunity presented itself she took it seriously.
“I had been training with CJ (Johnson) pretty much all through high school and he had told me there was a big want for a female big group fitness class,” Cone said. “He was pretty maxed out at the time and reached out to me to see if I would consider it.”
For about a year she was working full time during the day but doing training on the side both in the morning and in the evenings.
“I was doing the craziness of that whole schedule and got to the point where I had decide where my heart was and what I wanted my future to look like,” she said.
She walked away from her corporate job in order to pursue her fitness business full-time.
Cone is an independent contractor under Cutting Edge Fitness but LC FIT is its own LLC business.
“CJ has been a good mentor. We have a good relationship and it works well,” Cone said.
She offers personal training and group fitness classes at different times including mornings, over the lunch hour and evenings.
“Saturdays are my biggest classes. We’ll get 50 ladies on a Saturday morning,” Cone said.
Last summer, she began holding her Saturday morning classes at a different park in the city, often by a lake. She plans to start that up again this coming Saturday.
“It’s been such a positive thing, especially with our town and our lakes. I think it’s really huge,” Cone said.
In addition to these in-person classes, Cone said, “I have an app where I do an online program as well so if people can’t meet me in person I can do it virtually.”
Three ladies work under her, teaching pilates, yoga and spin classes, too.
Cone didn’t necessarily intend to cater to females only, but said that that demographic is more likely to gravitate toward group classes. She has had male athletes and clients for personal training, though.
In just a few short years, Cone has garnered a healthy following. She has almost 800 members in her Facebook group.
Her clients come to Fairmont for classes from all over Martin County including Trimont, Sherburn and Granada. They also represent different ages, needs and experience.
“I have moms that will bring their daughters who are high school students and all the way to my oldest client who comes to class is 73,” Cone said.
She thinks the wide range of clients is what’s so empowering about her program.
“The community has built itself. Everyone is at a different spot yet everyone can feel comfortable and we can get together and work to get 1 percent better everyday knowing we’re on different journeys and at different places,” Cone said.
To celebrate the milestones of her business, Cone does something different for the anniversary to give back to her clients and show them appreciation.
This past Saturday’s event included door prizes, goodie bags filled with items from other local female-owned businesses or entrepreneurs. There were also Henna tattoos and make-your-own flower bouquet. Of course, those present also took part in a workout.
Speaking to the success of her business and what she’s been able to provide to the community, Cone said, “Coming out of Covid, I think the world in general needed this. People needed a community aspect so it was a good time. I think it shows people that they’re not alone and no matter their goals if it’s weight loss or muscle gain, they don’t need to do it on their own.”
She wants to continue to provide a space where people can feel comfortable and confident and she’s looking forward to growing and providing more to not only her clients but to the community.
“I want to continue to add spark to it because the goal is to not just work out one day and then be done tomorrow. We’re going to do this the rest of our life so let’s make it exciting,” she said.
