FORT CAVAZOS, Texas — Fort Cavazos will officially unveil a new addition this May, a first-of-its kind family-focused outdoor fitness park.
According to the Fort Cavazos Media Center, the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Abrams Outdoor Fitness Park at 3 p.m. on May 16. The ceremony will take place behind the Abrams Physical Fitness Center on 58th Street.

The park, which is funded by Installation Management Command at a cost of $2 million, is the first of its kind in the U.S. Army, Fort Cavazos said.
The park is reportedly designed to support “family-friendly fitness,” and will include five distinct areas, such as a group fitness space, a multi-use court and a playground for children to enjoy while adults work out.
