A new community being developed in Bryan County designed specifically for residents 55 and older is drawing interest from thousands looking to embrace their golden years in an active, elegant setting complete with resort-style amenities.
Heartwood in Richmond Hill celebrated a huge milestone Wednesday as a ribbon cutting was held for Del Webb Savannah at Heartwood, a gated community located off Exit 82 on I-95 South.
General Sales Manager Laura Salzillo said that the community will have a lifestyle director on hand to tailor events and other aspects of the property to the residents’ needs.
“That could be anything from a cooking class to a wine class,” she said.
According to Salzillo, the community will have 700 homes at full build out. According to a press release, thousands of prospective homebuyers have already shown interest in the community. Floorplans range from two to four bedrooms and span anywhere between 1,345 to 2,712 square feet. Prices start in the low $400,000s.
“We have a remarkable show of interest from those who love Savannah’s Southern charm, energy and affordability,” said Salzillo. “Active adults from all over are attracted to the highly desirable location, new construction and Del Webb’s legendary reputation for creating an exceptional, event-filled amenity-rich lifestyle.”
When fully complete, the the community plans to include a 15,000-square-foot clubhouse which will feature an outdoor pool, pickleball courts and two tennis courts. Nestled near the Jerico River, residents can enjoy fishing and picnicking near the waterway.
Matthew Raines, division manager of Pulte Group, said it took more than three years to plan buildout of the community. According to Raines, around 20 homes have been sold.
“We started with the blank slate of land with the trees on it and looked at everything from how the spine roads lay out to the community center,” said Raines. “One of the things we knew is that we wanted to put the community center by the lake with walking trails around it.”
Richmond Hill Mayor Russ Carpenter was on hand at the ceremony to give a few remarks and spoke to the amenities residents can take advantage of.
“It’s gives residents the opportunities to write their next chapters,” said Carpenter. “[Residents can enjoy] biking along scenic trails with an excellent view of our marshes.”
